The Poly Girls Next Door

I’ve recently become addicted to a television show that may very well be the first to truly portray a real polyamorous family. I don’t watch television; I rent DVDs from Blockbuster.com and watch whole seasons of television shows at a time. In fact, I love when I discover a show that has already been out for a few years, so I can watch several seasons in a row. Hence my discovery of The Girls Next Door (now in its third season), a reality show about Hugh Hefner, the original Playboy himself, and his three lovely girlfriends: Holly, Bridget and Kendra.
It was after watching about half of the first season that it hit me: they are a poly family! Do they identify themselves as such? Not that I know of…but there is a lot they don’t talk about in their relationships with Mr. Hefner, so who really knows what’s going on when the cameras are off. But here is the deal: Holly has been dating him for more than 7 years and is his primary (she wants marriage and kids with him); Bridget (my favorite!), is his secondary, has been around nearly as long as Holly, and is working on her second masters degree. Kendra was invited in by Mr. Hefner the year prior to the first episode, is only 19 years old in the first season, and exhibits her immaturity and ignorance frequently. In pictures of the four of them, Mr. Hefner is nearly always flanked by Holly and Bridget, with Kendra standing beside either of the girls.
Holly admitted in one episode, that all three of the girls have ended up together in bed with Mr. Hefner a number of times. Holly shares his bed all the time, while Bridget and Kendra have rooms of their own. I’m guessing that he visits them in their rooms for any private time together. He treats all three of them wonderfully, remembering anniversaries with lovely gifts, throwing huge birthday parties, and he is such a gracious host to their family members when they come to visit – they all adore him!
The love Mr. Hefner and the girls have for each other seems very real. The girls are close to each other, especially Holly and Bridget, and they love to spend a lot of time together, decorating for holidays and parties, dressing up in sexy costumes and outfits, and going out with and without Mr. Hefner. They are a loving, polyamorous family.
Seasons 1 and 2 are currently available for purchase on DVD (I rented them first and then went out and bought them both!) along with a very nice exercise DVD they put together with 15 minute segments from each of the girls (I workout to the Bridget segment almost daily). There is even an episode in Season 2 that shows the girls making The Girls Next Door Workout, so you can watch a very frustrated Kendra messing up her segment over and over again, and a very sexy Bridget happily working up a sweat to get her segment just right. Holly, the mistress of the manor, manages near perfection, as always. Seasons 1 and 2 also include deleted scenes, photo albums (yummy eye candy!), and invite you into a warm, caring family with multiple Loves. You may just find yourself caring right along with them…I know I did.
